The Medicine Cabinets Series, is a group of wall-mounted and freestanding boxes, which focuses on society’s maladies and its ability to cure itself. After interviewing many people about what they considered to be basic problems with our society, I settled on twelve concepts, which deal with simple issues which each of us has the power to remedy.
I represent the illnesses and cures within the "medicine cabinets". Some are simple visual pieces. Others need to be manipulated or "played." The illnesses range from "a lack of compassion" to "stereotyping". The completed project will consist of an installation of all of the boxes plus a walk-in cabinet, which will allow the viewer to participate in the "cure" concept. |
